Prof. Dr. Nauman Naseer

MD, FACC, FSCAI, FACP

Prof. Dr. Nauman Naseer is a distinguished Interventional Cardiologist with over 18 years of experience in advanced cardiac care, teaching, and research. A graduate of King Edward Medical University, Lahore (1998), he completed his Internal Medicine residency and Chief Residency at New York Medical College/Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY (1999–2003). He then pursued Cardiology fellowship training at NYMC/WMC (2003–2005) and advanced Interventional Cardiology fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia (2005–2007), one of the top-ranked institutions in the United States.

Dr. Naseer holds six American Diplomate Board certifications in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Echocardiography, Vascular Sonography, Nuclear Cardiology, and Interventional Cardiology, with successful completion of 10-year recertification examinations in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology, consistently scoring in the top percentile ranks.

He has served as Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and faculty member at leading cardiac centers, including Sentara Heart Hospital, USA — recognized among the nation’s best by US News & World Report. Twice, he was named among the region’s top Interventional Cardiologists (2011 and 2013) based on peer surveys. His career is decorated with numerous awards for clinical excellence, teaching, and research, including honors from the American Heart Association and the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Naseer is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP, 2008), the American College of Cardiology (FACC, 2008), and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI, 2009).

Contributions in Pakistan

Since returning to Lahore in 2013, Dr. Naseer has built and led the Cardiology program at Bahria International Hospital, establishing it as a center of excellence for complex interventional procedures. The program is renowned for advanced cath lab capabilities, including intravascular physiology, imaging, rotablation, and structural interventions such as Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI). He is among the few interventional cardiologists in Pakistan certified to perform TAVI independently and has achieved one of the highest procedural volumes in the region.

He also pioneered the first CPSP-approved cardiology fellowship program in a private setup in Punjab (2016), contributing significantly to postgraduate cardiovascular training.

As Vice President of the Pakistan Society of Interventional Cardiology (PSIC, 2021–23, re-elected 2023), Dr. Naseer has spearheaded academic initiatives, including monthly fellows’ sessions, regional cath conferences, the fellows’ course at Pak Live, and innovative platforms such as Cardioolympics and Shark Tank for research. He also serves as Managing Editor of Cathalogue, the PSIC Journal.

Research & Global Initiatives

Dr. Naseer has authored 30 research publications in international journals and textbooks, with ongoing projects in collaboration with the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS). He was an investigator in the landmark Pak Sehat project (“Pakistan’s Framingham”), which collected genetic, biochemical, and imaging data to advance understanding of cardiovascular disease in Pakistan.

He is Project Director for Pakistan in the Global STEMI/Stent Save a Life Program and serves as focal person for the National Heart Attack Treatment Initiative (NHATI), working with the National Information Technology Board to develop digital tools for patient care and prevention.

Conferences & Public Engagement

Dr. Naseer is regularly invited as faculty, speaker, and organizer at prestigious international meetings, including Euro/Turkish CTO Club, Asia PCR, SCAI Annual Meeting, Africa STEMI Live, and Pak Live. He has also appeared on national television (PTV, ARY, Channel 24, Capital TV) to raise awareness about cardiovascular health.

He actively organizes public awareness campaigns on heart disease prevention, Basic Life Support (BLS), and STEMI/heart attack education, both in Pakistan and the USA. Locally, he has conducted specialized Precision PCI courses in Lahore.
